World Diabetes Day 2019

November 14, 2019 marks the 28th World Diabetes day. This day was created in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organization in response to growing concerns of escalating health threat posed by diabetes. The number of people living with diabetes is estimated to rise from 415 million today to 642 million by 2040.1 Globally, millions connect on this day to raise diabetes awareness.

Diabetes has adverse impacts on both, healthcare budgets and people with diabetes’ quality of life. In 2017, 727 billion U.S. dollars, 12 percent of adult health spending, were attributed to diabetes.2 People with diabetes have an increased risk of developing serious health problems which can significantly affect the quality of life. Maintaining blood glucose levels can delay or prevent diabetes-related complications. Thus, self-monitoring of blood glucose is critical for effective diabetes management especially in people with type 1 diabetes who need to measure their glucose levels 4-6 times daily.

RSP Systems is developing a non-invasive and convenient glucose monitor. GlucoBeam® uses breakthrough technology to help address the global diabetes epidemic. Today on World Diabetes Day, RSP Systems pledges to create a brighter future for people with diabetes and society, through pain-free diabetes management.
